Part 3
Site name: teAchnology
Site Address: http:/www.teach-nology.com/teachers/
Description: A good site for lesson plans, tools, tips etc. using technology. You can choose specific grade levels and subject areas.

Site Name: EdHelper
Site Address: http://www.edhelper.com
Description: A great site for teachers that can be subscribed to school-wide. It has pintables for all subject areas and grade levels. It is a good source for supplemental materials for the regular curriculum being used in the classroom. It can be sorted into specific themes and areas of interest. Our school district is a subscriber to this site and the teachers in our district use the site frequently. The school does have to pay a subscription rate.
I use websites that I have bookmarked for preschool but not a lot of other grade levels. I do use them some when I work with my Title I students and in summer school so I am enjoying searching the different sites.

I'm moved away from edhelper because I found 1) The grade/lexile levels were not always accurate 2) It was just worksheets. It's nice to turn to when you need worksheets and don't want to go out to the local teacher supply store for a new book, but ultimately it's limited.

Tips and Strategies from First Year Teachers
http://www.ed.gov/pubs/FirstYear/ch3.html
This site doesn’t contain links or lesson plans or advice. I found it quite interesting to read many of the comments people wrote as advice. There are things on there that I would have never thought of. Although this site doesn’t provide any materials, it still provides an insight that you gain only gain through your first year of teaching.

Education World
I visited this site earlier on this assignment, but came back to it because of the section that gives advice to first year teachers. I really enjoyed the ABCs of first year teaching and the short advice it provided. Not only can you read through the advice, but you can also spend time looking at lesson plans, games, and worksheets. It also provides additional material for first year teachers. This is one site that I REALLY like, there is just so much information and different areas and aspects it touches on.

The Teacher Store
http://shop.scholastic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchResultDi...
Or more simply, http://www.scholasticdealer.com/dealer/tflanding.html and then click on the Teachers' link.
I like this because they have several items. It sorts them by grade level or by price or by subject. I know it's just online shopping, but they also have decorating stuff. I know I won't be in an elementary school, and I'm going to be teaching math. But I still like to be artsy.

New Teacher, First Year Teacher, and Student Teacher Resources GALORE!

Other than that i bow to the all powerful GOOGLE. Google knows everything. I had a teacher that said it is less important to know everything than to know where to find it.

Site Address:

Description:
Most all of us should hopefully know what KNEA is and should be member of the organization through school and out department. However, I am not sure it everyone has taken the opportunity to search through their website and explore everything that it has to offer. It has tons of very important resources and information that student teachers and furture teachers need to be aware of! Visit the website and you will see a long list on the left side of the screen showing what KNEA has to offer and what you can explore.

On a side note, I agree with Paul Carver above, Teach-nology: http://www.teach-nology.com/, and
Rubistar: http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php, are two that I was going to suggest to others before I saw they had already been posted. They are both excellent resources that I have used frequently the last couple years! Check them out!

Also, many teachers' associations will offer supplemental disability, and life insurance. There is usually an open enrollment (sign up with no medical exam) in the first 3 months of employment. Make sure you look into this and sign up if it is something you need.
