1. http://www.teachersfirst.com and also http://www.teachersfirst.com/newbie.cfm
It has some inspirational advice for the “Newbie”. You can also find the new and hottest technologies that are being used, resources and even puzzles. You have to be a member to get all of the information, but the best part is – membership is free!

2. http://www.beginningteachers.org/
the National Association for Beginning Teachers is an online resource for new teachers. Teachers can share ideas, shop for classroom items, and search for workshops. Plus their motto is great “Giving beginning teachers wings to fly”. Another advantage is that it is also free!

1)Really Good Stuff
2)http://reallygoodstuff.com
3)I do not like to buy anything over the internet unless it is easy and self explanatory. This web site has classroom supplies and seems easy to use. I have not looked much around town but was wondering where to get name tags, boarders and other thing needed to decorate a classroom.

1)Teachers First
2)http:www.teachersfirst.com
3)If you need some advise and real stories to relate to about teaching, this site is for you. It also has more printable classroom puzzles and projects that are neatly arranged by subject and grade level.

Site Name: Resources for Parents & Teachers
Site Address: http://www.fema.gov/kids/femapub.htm/
Description: Upon first glance, I did not think this site had all that much information. However, after some clicking and searching, I found this site was useful, especially in the area in which I live. I clicked on the search tab and it took me to a list of different topics-one of which included tornados. The site went onto explain tornados and what they were, etc. With the recent disaster at Greensburg and with the small tornado we had in our town just last week, I thought this site was extremely relevant. I heard somewhere that research has proven that with educating grade school students about tornado safety, it has decreased the fatality rate. It makes sense; parents would be more likely to head down to the basement to calm the nerves of their 8 year old that learned last week in school how destructive tornados can be!

Site Name: The Educators Network
Site Address: http://www.theeducatorsnetwork.com/
Description: I actually signed up to become a member to this website. It has a bunch of neat ideas. A few tabs that I explored were theme units, quotes, fundraising ideas and worksheets. The theme units sections had different themes to focus on per month. For example, in June it focused on Father’s Day and No Tobacco Day. I found the quote section interesting. I thought teachers could use it for an inspirational lift daily, or even pick a different quote a day for the board and discuss it with the class. The fundraising ideas section I found useful, as we live in a small town with a minimal budget and are always looking for good fundraising ideas to help with Prom, Senior Sneak, dance uniforms, etc. Also, the worksheet section I thought was neat. You can literally go to this site and print off worksheets that are already completed or start from scratch and customize a worksheet for your particular task or need.

Site:

This website has great information on delivering lessons, assessment, getting organized, creating class websites, and much more. It also has an interesting forum called "Emergency Helpline" in which new teachers can get personalized advice from a veteran teacher. Another useful forum features teacher-to-teacher dialogue on all areas of being an educator. Scholastic is a well known teacher resource and this site seems to be legitimate.

Site:

This is a really cool site that is part of the Discovery family of networks. The lesson plans library really caught my eye. You can literally conduct a search by entering the subject, grade level, and topic and quality lesson plans appear. There is also (of course) a store where resources can be ordered as well as a streaming video site and "teaching tools" area that contains such things as clip art images, puzzle makers, etc.

I'm not sure why the hyperlinks did not show up. The first site I mentioned was: New Teacher at Scholastic.com (http://teacher.scholastic.com/newteacher/). The second site was: DiscoverySchool.com (http://school.discovery.com/).

As a science teacher, I absolutely LOVE http://science.howstuffworks.com ! It's great for inquiry based projects, scientific method, everything! Another great site is http://www.factmonster.com . It has games, resources like dictionaries and encyclopedias, homework help, blogs, this day in history, and so much more.

Little Clickers
is another site that is designed for kids aged 6-12. It has various topics and links to follow to learn more about those topics. It has everything from "Learn to Draw" to "Visit the Serengeti". Topics are changed frequently. Great for elementary kids-also useful for unit planning!

I believe that any teacher today should begin paying particular attention to the 21st Century Skills document. It is being supported by a large group of business people and politicians and it will continue to become a big part of the future of education. The website is:
