My suggestion for an invaluable site is del.icio.us ( http://del.icio.us ). This is an online social bookmarking service which means you can access your bookmarks from any computer. You can import your bookmarks from your personal computer to your del.icio.us account, then access them from a campus computer or a computer in a school where you are working. Delicious allows you to tag your bookmarks and even forward them with people in your network.

Please feel free to explore my favorites ( http://del.icio.us/Ageing_Geek ) and the new account our district is building ( http://del.icio.us/TarkTechRoundup ).

I love Del.icio.us! It's fun to borrow sites from other people and add them to your own. I found one of my favorite sites (Little Clickers, see my post) through someone else's Del.icio.us account!

I think Google is turning out to be the most useful. Mail, chatting, storage, video uplinks and conversions...I am still learning and learning and learning since there is so much!

I also agree with Heather about del.icio.us. My account is in a mess right now, but feel free to look at the math links. I have used this site to "park" the web addresses that workshop participants give me.

My suggestion is sponsored by the national Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) . It is an interactive site both for teachers and their students to become more proficient in language arts. My favorite section is the Student Resources which hosts many interactive applets that combine technology and creativity with reading and writing.
It is not technically a Web 2.0 site but it is engaging and motivating for students. http://www.readwritethink.org/student_mat/index.asp
Let me know what you think?

I agree with Kathy Schrock on the usefulness of blogs. I highly suggest students to create their own learning circle. Because information today is plentiful and abundant, sorting through all of that STUFF can be a time killer. I bookmark many blogs, but read a selected few daily. It just depends on your interest and goals. This is why I would give her page as a good starting point to some blogs relating to educational technology and education.

Site Name: Eduhound
Site Address: http://www.eduhound.com

Site Name: FREE- Federal Resources for Educational Excellence
Site Address: http://www.free.ed.gov/index.cfm
Description: More than 1,500 federally supported teaching and learning resources are included from dozens of federal agencies. Links to great sites such as The Space Place, Artsedge, American Masters, Beyond Discovery, BAM! It’s easy to plan a virtual field trip or interactive lesson with these resources. Note: This site’s parent page, the U.S Dept. of Education is always a useful source: http://www.ed.gov/teachers/landing.jhtml.

I have never heard of Eduhound but after exploring it at your suggestion, I have added it to my Furl archive. I think it will be a good resource in the rest of my classes at FHSU and when I begin teaching, especially student teaching...

Awesome ideas for students, new, & experienced teachers in the areas of discipline, grading, language, science, reading and much more. "You Can Handle Them All" is a great resource that provides a model for working with more than 100 different problematic behaviors. The site has special sections for parents and teachers.

The first website I found was Education World: The Educators Best Friend (www.educationworld.com) In this site second year teachers offered their best advice for getting through their first year of teaching and there is also a compiled list of 26 top tips for surviving your first year. This site was very informative about what to expect that first year. The second site was A New Teachers Survival Guide (http://hannahmeans.bizland.com/) This is an excellent site for first year teachers to visit. It has many different areas to check into such as classroom management, the first day, links to sites and much more. This site is great to help that first year teacher be a little more prepared and have an idea what to expect.
