Wow, what a great tool for teachers! Quia made it simple to create quizzes and it was very user friendly! I also couldn't believe how affordable it is, only $49 a year! I never knew how many great tools are out there for teachers! I definitely will keep this in mind for the future! I create a couple of quizzes using Quia, they are located at:

I have used some quizzes that other people have built in Quia, and I liked the look and feel. I know that online quizzing is not looked well upon by many EdWeb2.0 types, but I bit is a nice break. I like it as part of the mix. I have also used FunBrain and BrainPop a lot. The kids LOVE BrainPop, I just wish I had an unlimited site account. BrainPopJr, is fantastic for the primary grades. My son is in third grade and is addicted to it.

I agree about BrainPop. They gave it away free for so long and go everybody hooked and now they charge. Just a bummer!!! But a great product and kids love it. Actually, United Streaming did exactly the same thing about three years ago, schools could sign up for a one year free account, they hooked everyone and then started charging. In fact, until May I could have a one semester account for my college students to use. Now that is gone too.

It is amazing to see what all is available at Quia and other sites. I can see how Quia could save a lot of time for teachers, provided there are enough computers available for students to use. If I end up either teaching computer or serving as a Technology Integration specialist at the elementary/middle grades, this is definately a source I would want to use.

Has anyone found sites that are aimed at higher grades - say 9-12 students?

Quia is aimed at High School. In fact, the bulk of their customers are high schools, over 70% they say (heard that stat at NECC). Don't let the game part make you think they are for younger students only. The games are just as valuable at the high school level for things like test review and you can make them very challenging for sure. Most every school around here uses it and I see it being used at the high school level most often.

I've really had a lot of fun using Quia. I think I could use this for supplementary exercises in the classroom. I was also impressed at the price for a whole year of use. At only $49 a year you could get your moneys worth out of the program!

Here is the site I have created:

Okay--this has to be the coolest, most useful site ever--well, so far anyway. What a great tool for teachers to use and what a great venue for students to visit. There are so many tools to use-- and while there are websites out there like Puzzlemaker and others like it, it is really awesome to have puzzle making abilitiy in the same site as quiz makers, survey makers and dozens of other cool tools as well. The hangman and battleship games were really cool but I couldn't figure out how to make them. I figured you must have to be an official subscriber? I can say this for sure--I will be forwarding this link to every teacher at our school this fall and definitely subscribing for myself when I begin teaching even if it is at my own expense!

So after 2 hours of playing on the Quia website I am addicted. This has to be one of the neatest websites that I seen. I made my class page and have played with it for a little over an hour...it is a working progress but it is definitly something that I hope I will get to use in my classroom when I start teaching. It will be awesome for homework assignments and quick checkups to see how students are really doing and their parents can also see what is going on in class as well. We all know that parent letters and things go out and rarely make it home. With a class website that could be almost completely stoped. Teachers can post bullitans to parents and students and then everyone is on the same page.

Here is my page. It is a little plain at the moment, but I hope to make it better as the weeks go on.

Quia is a really nice resource for teachers of all kind. What a wonderful idea. The simplicity of Quia is its beauty. Classroom teachers could really use this to help learning and communication in their classrooms and with parents. For only $49 a user it’s a must have product. I don’t think are school district currently uses Quia. I’m definitely going to bring it up to the Instructional Technical Specialist in our school district. I never knew teachers had so many resources.
