Teachers From the Trenches:
Do you use Quia, (www.quia.com)? If you do could you tell us what you think, if not do you have something else you use that you could recommend?

Assignment details are in Week for of Moodle.
wow thanks for the compliment. I never really know until then end it seems and then it seems after they get a teaching job, some maintain contact. In fact, there are several participating in this Classroom 2.0 experiment this summer. Having a Moodle site and things for them to do there and then tis site is really time consuming for me to read and go back to moodle to enter points, but I am really liking all the resources everyone is sharing and I think I am becoming more efficient. You are such a wealth of ideas and resources. I hope I get an opportunity to meet you in person someday.
I second Durff's vote for the tools from 4teachers.org. I also like EasyTestMaker which has a free level as well as annual subscriptions (that provide more options). I've found the free version has been enough to meet my needs so far. :)
4teachers is a great site and I think I added it to my Furl archive. I really explored it as part of my final project in this class and plan to keep it in mind as I continue in my education classes as well as when I start teaching. I just had no idea that all of these great sources were out there for teachers...
I have been using Quia for several years in my classroom. I have found it to be a very useful study tool for my students. I use the matching game as a resource for students who want to learn chapter vocabulary. I have had positive feedback from both students and parents on this website. I also use Quia surveys for not only student feedback but as a means of professional development.
I found Quia this spring and implemented it in all my courses. My kids love having instant feedback and I love not having to grade as much!!! There are so many cool features that allow me to review my students success. I can review the classes performance on each individual question. I am in the process of migrating all of my worksheets, quizes, reviews, & tests over to it. The only thing I have to do is make sure I am monitoring my students as they use Quia. I'm not worried about them copying off another student because you can set it up to randomize the questions and answers. I just want to make sure they don't open any other programs (ie notes, internet, chat, ebook).
Thanks for sharing. I think I would like the instant feedback it provides too. I am sure the students love it and it provides so much more insight for you as to how well they are grasping the concepts.
Only $49 for a personal teacher account that you can use and groups of teachers can get together and join and the more you gather in the group, the cheaper it is. For example, 10 teachers drops it to 29 and when you get over a 100, it really drops for the site license. I agree it sucks when a school won't buy these things and teachers pay for outta their pockets, but this one is worth the price of admission for sure.
After exploring this site for more than an hour, I am starting to question all of those teachers who say they are overworked! Just kidding, I know firsthand how hard teachers work. I believe that this site makes all of that hard work more efficient. It really is a one-stop shop for many of the tasks that teachers must do on a daily basis. I played with the quiz builder for most of the time and it is very user-friendly and so much faster than using a word processor. The variety of games and activities was also very interesting. I could see myself using these as a resource for reviews and maybe extra credit-type activities. The calendar feature is also very nice. It is set up similar to the calendar I use at work in Microsoft Outlook which makes it easier for me. I need all of the help I can get! I can definitely see myself using this feature in my class not only to keep dates organized for myself but to also teach responsibility to the students. I would have all of my assignments and exams posted on the calendar at the beginning of the semester and this would help eliminate excuses for late work, etc. Overall, this site will be extremely useful to me. Until I see a better product, I would definitely consider purchasing this resource.
I forgot to attach the link to my class webpage complete with quizzes, activities, useful websites, etc. I've tried to post a live link but they always disappear when I hit the reply button. So, you will have to cut and paste into your browser to view my page. Here it is:
Quia.com is a great site. This site makes it very easy to make quizzes and other assignments, sure beats spending all your time in Microsoft word (like I have many times to make baby shower games). Another great plus is the price. It is easy to work on and navigate through. I have made a short common knowledge science quiz and a child friendly survey. Please check them out.
