My students are learning about and beginning to set up their own Social Bookmarking site like del.icio.us or Portaportal, etc. If you have an opinion about social bookmarking or one to share, we would really appreciate taking advantage of your resources.
I chose del.icio.us. http://del.icio.us/rmn15
I chose this social bookmarking site because it seemed to be the easiet to work with. I have never used social bookmarking before, so I was a little confused. I always write sites down thinking I will use them again, but I end up losing the sticky note or something, so I am glad I can now keep track of any site I want. It will be very handy being able to access all my sites from any computer.
After reading the different articles and reviews of the different Social Bookmarking sites I decided to go with del.icio.us. I will admit it took me quite a while to get the hang of it I was able to import my bookmarked sites and I'm really excited about getting more familiarized with del.icio.us. I think this will be a great resource to use. Thanks for all the information and the tutorial on it! You can check out my initial postings at http://del.icio.us/ajmaska
It took some deliberation, but after a time I decided on del.icio.us. I like the look of blinklist, and the options that blinklist has. But, b/c del.icio.us seems to be the current M.O. for most social bookmarkers and I decided to go with it. If blinklist attracts a larger user base in the future I may switch, but my alliance stands with del.icio.us for now.
It will be nice to be able to access my bookmarks from any computer.
I have to be honest - before this class, I had never heard of social bookmarking. I always put my most visited websites in my favorites on my desktop. That was always horrible because I would go to use another computer, and I had to google every site I needed since I didn't have my favorites marked. You can imagine how excited I was to find that I could mark my favorites on the internet, so that I could look them up on any computer! I thought del.icio.us sounded really good, so that is the site I chose to use. It seemed like that is what most people were using, and I also noticed in one of the reviews in our reading that del.icio.us was faster to load, since it didn't have any "eye candy." I really don't care if it looks pretty, as long as it is organized and fast! I will most definitely stop marking sites in my favorites and start using del.icio.us.
After reading all the information about social bookmarking, I was still not really excited about it. Once I set up my account and began adding my pages and information my mind started to change. I then had to use another computer at work and decided to test it out myself. My mind has completely changed. This is going to cut down on the time it takes to search for pages and it will relieve the stress of memorizing pages. This system is a great tool and I think that everyone should be using it. I know that I am going to tell everyone I know about it. I chose to us the “del.icio.us” site because after reading the information i was set on finding a user friendly system. I also liked the fact that this site doesn’t have an excessive amount of unwanted design. I like the simplicity of this site. My link is as follows.
I really like these socialbookmarking sites. I am just beginning to explore them and see what all I can do. This is something that is completely new to me. I had no idea what social bookmarking was or that this even existed. I think that del.icio.us and portaportal are going to be extremely useful tools and be very helpful in helping me keep files of all the teacher resources I come across throughout this course and in the future. I will be sure to go look back in my files from all my classes in the Education program, dig up all the teacher resources and websites that I can find, and add/organize them all in my bookmarking sites. I wasnt sure which ones to pick at first. After exploring several that were suggested, I can see why many have chose these two, and why you did as well! I am excited to get my pages organized and start adding my resources and websites!
I choose del.icio.us because in all of the articles you provided for us to read this seemed like the easiett to learn and use. It also got the best reviews and has the largest user base so I will be able to utilize other peoples bookmarks. The plan is to use and get good at this site and then maybe moving on to a different site that will allow me to read organize my sites.
I will use this as a teacher to have all my sites right at my fingertips at all times. No more pointless searching and googling for information. Now if I've already found it, I can go to tried and true websites!
I'm really excited about this social bookmarking assignment. I'm not the most tech savvy person and my internet research is very limited and restricted to school work. However, I am constantly coming accross sites that I would like to save so I'm always writing them down ( I didn't want my favorites to get overloaded I guess). This will cut my time in half. Now all the great resources my peers have found so far this semester I can save and utilize myself! Thanks!!
I am anxious to get my social bookmarking page up and going. This is the first I have heard of social bookmarking and I love the concept! I am always finding useful webpages but have no way of organizing them so this is perfect. I will use this so much in my classroom as a resource for both me and my students.
I chose delicious because it seemed to be laid out fairly simply, and also because it seems to be the most common of social bookmarking services. The tutorials in moodle were geared toward delicious so I have a resource to help me navigate through this.
